What is the currency in Serbia?

Thew currency is Serbian Dinar. Currently (Sept, 2025) the exchange rate is around 100 Dinars for 1 dollar. There are billion exchange offices around the city, they will have the best rate. DO NOT exchange your money at the airport, those rates are a ripoff just like in all airports. Also, most of the places do take credit cards, just make sure you tell your bank you are traveling so they don't block it.

How do I get from and to the airport?

There are minibuses that stop right at the airport entrance. The bus line is A1 - and it's only a couple of dollars (equivalent in Serbian dinars). They take cash only, but there are ATMs right past the baggage claim, so feel free to take out e.g. 2,000 dinars (equivalent to $20). This will take you to Slavija Square (big roundabout)- Which is close to city center . From there you can take the buses to two major hotels that we suggested (Hotel Moskva and Hotel Balkan) - which are only 1-2 stops away. Alternatively, you can walk if you are close to your place that you will stay at or call a taxi. IF YOU DECIDE TO TAKE TAXI DIRECTLY FROM THE AIRPORT, WE HIGHLY SUGGEST TO CALL YOUR OWN TAXI (info can be found on transportation page). DO NOT accept ride from people offering them at the airport doors, often these guys are unregistered or with taxi companies that are not reputable. The cost of ride from Airport to the city center should be around 3,000 dinars ($30-35) depending on the time of the day you are driving and where exactly in the city you are staying.

How do I get to your wedding venue?

On Thursday and Friday before the wedding, we will organize the vans or a bus to transport people from the city center to our venue - where we assume that most people will be staying around the wedding date. We have accommodations suggested on our Accommodations page. Please let us know if you will be staying near the venue on those days so we can figure out the total amount of people for transportation and let you know pickup info. If you are planning on arriving to the venue on the day of the wedding, we suggest renting a car or getting a taxi. Ideally, if you take taxi, you get to split it with someone as the venue is one hour away, and the fare will be $100+. If you have any questions or concerns let us know.

How do I get from my accommodation to the venue and church?

If you are staying the night before around the venue, we will have taxis/vans on standby that day that will move people from their places to the venue, from the venue to the church (which is 15 min away) and back. This will be organized and paid for by us, so you get to enjoy the wedding (and drinks!). - -------------- -------------------------------------------------- Fun Fact: The church where we are getting married is in the village where Uros' great grandfather and his family is from. In the church you will see a plaque for that village's fallen heroes during WW1 and you can find Uros' great-great grandfather's name - Kosta Marinkovic.

How to get around Belgrade?

Ideally, you will be staying in the city center where you can really walk around to anywhere. The public transportation is free for everyone so if you know the direction you are going, feel free to hop on the bus and take a couple of stops. Ultimately, if you don't want to walk or want to go somewhere a bit more distant we suggest calling taxi - all info on transportation you can find on transportation page on this website.

Is Belgrade safe?

Belgrade is fairly safe compared to other European and world major cities. For example, Belgrade's crime index is 37.81 compared to New York City's 51.03. Belgrade's perceived safety walking alone ranks very high at 84 out of 100. We are giving these numbers just to show you how it compares. We can vouch that Belgrade is super friendly city, where you can walk around freely and not be disturbed. The only thing that we would like to note is to call your taxis instead of accepting unsolicited drivers (mostly occurs at the airport) and if you are in public transportation during rush hour don't have things sticking out of your bags and pockets - just like in all major city's public transportation.

Is this an adult-only wedding?

Yes, we hope parents will enjoy their well-earned night off!

Do I have to drink Rakija (Serbian plum brandy)?

No, but you will be offered to have it many times! :)
